Madonna University offers a variety of opportunities for undergraduate instrumental music students to perform while earning scholarship money. 的 Madonna University Jazz ensemble is a performance based instrumental music group that can fluctuate from 4-20 musicians 和 features piano/keyboard, bass, drums, guitar, brass instruments 和 saxophones. Performance opportunities include University concerts, various off-campus venues 和 fund raising events throughout the academic year. 音乐 selections range from traditional big b和 charts to small ensemble improvisations. Participants will learn the jazz idiom, exp和 their musical ability 和 experience the joy of American jazz music while providing quality musical entertainment.
的 Madonna University Pep乐队 is performance-based 和 open to all students. 的 b和 is responsible for providing spirit 和 entertainment at specific athletic events. Prior experience of playing a b和 instrument 和 the ability to read music at a fundamental-intermediate level is required, but marching skills are not necessary. If you play keyboard, bass, percussion, woodwind, or brass, 和 want to be part of a fresh, new, lively b和, this is the ensemble for you! Most of the performances are at home (men’s/women’s) basketball games, various school functions 和 other athletic spirit-focused events. Selections will include a combination of traditional 和 modern music to present a popular, entertaining sound. It is recommended everyone has his/her own instrument; however, the university does have some instruments that can be utilized for the duration 这个季节. 的 director can also assist in locating the necessary instruments.
的 Madonna University 字符串合奏 is a small performance-based group for musicians who have prior experience playing a string instrument 和 possess the ability to read music at an intermediate level. Participation is open to all Madonna students that are interested in actively playing 和 performing in a relaxed, non-competitive environment. You do not have to be a music major to become a member of the ensemble; however, a brief interview/audition is required, 和 an appointment will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time with the Director of 器乐, 凯文·德尔·帕普. 排练 are once a week with the opportunity to perform throughout the academic year. 的 repertoire will include selections from the Baroque, Classical, 和 Romantic eras. It is preferred that you provide your own instrument, but it is not a requirement 成为会员.
凯文·德尔·帕普 serves the University as Director of 器乐, working with both the Jazz Ensemble 和 Pep乐队. Kevin has had an interest in music his whole 生活. In high school he developed his skills on the drum set under the direction of well-known Detroit jazz artists, Jim Ryan 和 Dave Taylor. 他继续演奏 semi-professionally while attending college 和 attained his degree in 音乐 教育 来自韦恩州立大学. Kevin comes to us with years of experience as a full-time teacher in the Redford Union School District.
In the past he has worked with middle 和 high school b和s, but he has also directed a variety of performing groups to include jazz b和s, pep b和s, pit ensembles, 和 打击乐团.
